Honda Troubleshooting Tips
How do you check the Automatic Transmission Fluid on a Honda?
Hondas are a little different on how you check the fluid.
Since an over-filled transmission will go bad, you'll want remember
these two important steps: First, the easiest way is to check your Honda's
transmission fluid is when the engine is cold & not running.
Never check & adjust the fluid level when the engine is running
& the transmission is hot. . .you will overfill it. Second, push the dipstick down into the lock position when
checking: if you don’t, you'll over-fill.
Does Duralube really work?
The
Dura-lube commercial claims you can drive 500 miles with no oil and your
engine will be fine if you use their product.
I thought "no way!". . . until a friend of mine pulled in
one day after the cam oil seal blew out of his '92 Accord.
When this happens all the oil immediately pumps out of the engine.
He was coming home from vacation & drove the last hour with no oil, so
he used Duralube. Three weeks
earlier, I had called him a sucker for buying it.
. .but all this happened 2
years ago & the car is still running strong! All we did was replace
the seal & fill the oil back up. So
yes, it really works.
