Me! I'm freezing!
My Temperature Control Knob Turns Hard or. . .
I Have Hardly Any Heat at All!!!
90-97 Honda Accord
Honda Accords used a cable that went from the control knob to a valve in
the engine compartment. Where the cable end meets the valve, they have an
annoying tendency to stick -- which can prevent you from turning the knob
to the "full heat" position. What you need to do is 1)
break the cable end free from the shaft it is hooked to; and 2) put oil on
to lubricate the joint.
Location: The valve is located behind the engine against the
firewall. You will see two 1" black hoses that go through the
firewall and into the cabin of the car. The valve is located in one of
these hoses.
Hardly any heat: If you have no heat at all, your cable is broken
and the valve is stuck in a closed position (or only partly open).
Using you hand, push on the valve arm to fully open it and you will have
full heat again.
